Author Michelle Path describes “Sham Subterranean and the Party Tea”:
“When Jake steps in a puddle, he finds himself transported to a magical new world called Subterranea. Join him on his subterranean adventure as he attends a bizarre party tea with a strange creature known as Sham, and explores this new world that should only exist in his wildest dreams. The fun filled narrative and engaging tone is sure to captivate readers. Filled with flower people, magical cakes and of course Sham, you are sure to fall in love with the delightful characters and settings. Jake will never forget his time in Subterranea, and nor will you!”
I found this book to be very cute, entertaining and am sure it would be a delight to read to children. The illustrations by Hannah Purkiss are dynamic and draw the eye to many different places. While there are slight echoes of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, I think this is a much better story for young children, they will find it easier to understand. I think the self-stocking table at the Party Tea was genius, very creative.
I rate this book 5 of 5 STARS!
