IS THIS OUR RECKONING? Our tormentor is no longer the enemy; it is what’s left of the desperate earth. My neighbors are starving and sick from the biochemicals in the air. Our food, water and meds are running low. Our only hope is to come together to stay alive. WHO WILL LEAD US TO SALVATION? Certainly not me. Why would it be me? Besides that, there are earthquakes, storms, and the weather is turning very cold. Much of American infrastructure is gone, no cell service, no internet, no electricity. How would you survive? The police are missing, the army is nowhere to be found. What would you do? Laura Balous lives in Monterey, California. She is trying to figure out the answers to these questions and more. The author has crafted a multi-volume answer to these questions and so much more. Laura Balous is a hero because she has to be. She is an ordinary woman who cares about her family, her neighbors and friends. When disaster seems imminent, she goes door to door trying to stimulate community and find out who may need help in the neighborhood. She does not want to lead the others; she just wants to survive with her husband and hopes her nieces will make their way home. A very enjoyable story, that will bring several hours of pleasure. Multi-volume, multi-genre author, Travis Hill introduces us to “Diabolus”: Salvatore Domenico Antonelli is a disgraced ex-bishop, demoted and exiled to the farthest reaches of the Nicaraguan jungles for his sins against God and the Church. Benito Felipe Castillo is a new breed of tech-priest from the ghettos of Barcelona, freshly graduated from Seminary, ready to serve the Vatican as an artificial intelligence specialist. Tasked by the Vatican to confront DAMON-1, a nuclear-capable AI that claims to be Satan incarnate, returned to the physical world to bring about Armageddon, the two clergy must battle to restore DAMON and purge Satan from the enslaved AI's core. The bishop is forced to play a deadly game with billions of lives in the balance, while the young priest must confront Satan's digital persona within the network. The eternal conflict between good and evil, fought in the space between time, will bring humanity and their AI creations to the dawn of a new age... or to the brink of annihilation. "The Exorcist" meets "Skynet" meets "The Matrix" in this thought-provoking new science fiction thriller by Travis Hill.  Diabolus is a great read! I judge by how enjoyable the story is, depth of character, pacing of the plot and errors that I find. This was a fairly complicated trick, the mixture of Science and Religion. There are many who think these subjects are mutually exclusive, but I think Mr. Hill accomplished this in admirable fashion. Salvatore has a great deal of inner pain and doubt he must overcome, he felt betrayed by his Church. Benito, much younger, deals with the tech aspects and follows in the steps of his Lord. Diabolus, one of my favorite books for 2015, will provide several hours of enjoyment for the Sci-Fi lover, as well the person interested in Spiritual and Christian concepts. I give Diabolus 5 stars!
