Amongst The Flames                                               By T. K. Chapin

Multi-volume author, T.K. Chapin describes his book Amongst The Flames:
“A burning building doesn’t scare me at all compared to the thought of losing you.”
Firefighter Cole Taylor is the man everyone looks up to at Firehouse 9 in downtown Spokane. He’s been at the department for ten years and has no fear when it comes to dangerous situations.
Megan Taylor, Cole’s wife, is a stay-at-home mother of their two boys. She was everything Cole ever wanted in a woman and the perfect wife any man could ask for until one day when she decides to leave Cole.
Cole has fought hundreds of fires in his lifetime, but he had never tasted fear until he came to fighting a fire in his own home. Amongst The Flames is a Christian firefighter fiction that tackles real-life situations and problems that exist in Christian marriages today. It brings with it passion, love and spiritual depth that will leave you feeling inspired.

I did not know I was a firefighter until I read this book, then I finished and realized I have never been a firefighter. I found the story to be enjoyable and painful at the same time. Maybe it is because I could identify with Cole’s thoughts and blissful ignorance. I felt every emotion that Cole felt, including having very sweaty eyes at a couple of points in the story. No spoiler here. (Note to self: find a manly synonym for crying.)
As Cole and I learned, there is no magic pill to fix a marriage that is burning down. It takes a change of heart and a lot of work.
Author Chapin has received many positive reviews of his story. This is one more. I give this book 5/5 stars because it is well written in many ways, for one example, he kept the POV purely Cole’s in the entire book.

Multi-volume, celebrated children’s author, Michelle Path introduces us to her book, “Xalien Goes to the Zoo”:
Xalien the Purple Alien returns in Michelle Path’s newest book for an exciting trip to the zoo with Jessica, Adam and Sarah. Join Xalien as she monkeys around with the apes, eats with the elephants and flutters with the butterflies. This little alien causes all kinds of mayhem at the zoo, which results in hilarious consequences, yet all the while her Earth friends teach her valuable lessons on how important it is to care for animals. As Xalien meets Earth animals big and small on her adventure, she tells her friends about the strange and wonderful creatures on her own planet in a story that is out of this world!

Another in the delightful series of books about an inquisitive being from another world. Xalien has found three friends on Earth: Sarah, Adam and Jessica. These children help Xalien learn Earth ways and customs while having fun and adventures.
The kids take Xalien to the zoo and see different animals, Xalien is able to talk with the zoo animals and they understand her. The lions allow her to pet them. Xalien thinks the peanuts are earplugs instead of a treat for the elephants. She also talks about butterflies large enough to ride on.
Xalien and the kids have a lot of fun learning about creatures on each planet and the things they do or do not do. There are many moments to talk about differences and similarities in the book.
Each book is designed to be read by an adult to children, because there are many points of sharing and learning for the children that only an adult can provide. When Xalien throws a banana peel on the ground and slips on it, this is an opportunity to talk about cause and effect as well as disposing of trash properly.
I love Charlotte’s illustrations; they are bright and cheery. She captures the essence of a story in a wonderful manner. This book gets 5 Stars!

Your suggestions throughout the process of refining both books helped me immensely. I look forward to working with you again."   A.E.H Veenman “Dial QR for Murder” and “Prepped for the Kill”
