Multi-volume author, Diamond Wilson, introduces us to The Caves of Qumran: An ancient Essene relic is missing... Maylee Tayten doesn’t live in Israel. She didn’t know the Dead Sea or a place called Qumran even existed. Now, she’s risking her life and the lives of her loved ones to find a missing artifact and track down a murderer. Along with her brother, Smith, and the attractive Israeli teen Rafi, Maylee unravels a 2,000-year-old mystery and discovers a team of international thieves who want to keep it all a secret. Pressed for time and without many resources, their quest for the Queen leads them through the streets of Jerusalem to the waters of the Dead Sea. But to succeed, they will have to do more than solve the mystery. The trio must get the treasure back, pull off a nearly impossible disguise, and avoid getting killed along the way… This book is a lot of fun to read! A couple of American kids visiting their uncle in Israel makes for a great start to this story. Using Jerusalem, Israel, and the Dead Sea as backdrops taps into a very rich well of material that will never run out. The scene-setting is done quite well, the action and dialogue provide a wonderful balance that keeps the story moving in an exciting way. Add in the mystery associated with documents that are thousands of years old, stir in a mix of characters who think they are in control and many discover otherwise in some unpleasant ways. Now you have a thrilling and modern historical fiction that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Such a fun read! The Caves of Qumran gets 4.6 of 5 stars! You can buy this book:

Wasn’t that by Bodie Thoene? I haven’t read it but my wife did I think, and she really enjoyed it. I recently read and reviewed I love unquenchable fire Rosie chapel. That was a regency romance and I found I really enjoyed it. Are you planning on riding mower in the in the historical context of modern Israel?

Riding mower! Darn auto-correct! That was supposed to be writing more! So funny sometimes.

My teenage boys enjoyed me reading Caves out loud to them. I liked that they were engaged during the story times. They also wanted to Google and expand their understanding of the Dead Sea Scrolls, Israel hockey, and artifacts!

Even though The Caves of Qumran is YA fiction, I enjoyed it as an adult reader. The descriptions are vivid, the plot lines are interesting, and it transported me to a place I had never been (as good fiction does). The sequel, Dangers in the Desert, is a great read as well. This is a fantastic series for a wide range of readers.

Nice to hear from you Rhani. I have been updating my blogs. I love homophones, especially quadruple homophones. I discovered that I had blogged about 6 sets of these quad homophones. It was a pleasant rediscovery for me, and to get a chore crossed off my list. I have been getting a lot of book reviews reserved also. I am solid into the middle of February.
