Author Michelle Path describes her book “The Most Splendidly Spectacular Circus of Starzborough”:
“Be spellbound by this unique circus as it rolls into town! In the dull town of Dawdledale, nothing exciting ever occurs – yet things soon change when Calvin Callioni’s Most Splendidly Spectacular Circus of Starzborough rolls into town! With bright performers, enchanting animals and a colourful ringmaster, it’s not long before the people of Dawdledale are spellbound by the magic of the circus, much to the Mayor’s dismay. Soon everyone is caught up in the excitement and, along the way, the good folk of Dawdledale transform from a serious, humourless bunch into a town united by laughter and adventure. Step right up and join Calvin Callioni and his unique circus on an adventure that is sure to brighten, enlighten and enchant readers of all ages!”
This book is a delightful fairytale for the Modern world. The illustrations are marvelous and have a very contemporary feel, which will keep kids of all ages involved. There are multiple lessons to be discovered here in the process of discussing this book with your child. My favorite lesson: it is okay to have fun! My second favorite lesson: don’t let bullies push you around.
The only thing that detracted from complete fun was the font, it was a little hard to read at times and changed sizes from page to page occasionally.
I give this exciting and slightly serious book 4.8 out of 5 stars!
