IMAGINE: No War & No Corruption                        by Trina Jordan

Multi-volume, multi-genre author Trina Jordan introduces us to her book, "IMAGINE: No War & No Corruption": Imagine no more wars: so far, at least 18 wars have occurred that ended with the loss of our husbands, brothers, fathers, nephews, and other family members who died in the name of 'power to control.'

Imagine no more need for politicians: we have had numerous politicians say they will help us commoners, only later to find that they are or have become just as corrupt as their opponents.

Imagine that all of the murderers and rapists were sent to a prison island 4000 miles from citizens.

Imagine a treaty proposal that would unite all 7 continents.
Picture
Using personal imagery, the author describes what she thinks would be the perfect society for the entire world. I promise not to give spoilers. There is much I cannot say about this story. I am sure she has thought about this for a long time. She asks for your indulgence while you read her book and then invites you to join her in creating the perfect society.
I am picky about certain things, so I give 4.9 stars to this book.

When I began to write about a world without War, Corruption, and Violence, I wonder how many other people would like to see the same type of world I was imagining. Because of all the badness we see in this world, I hope everyone can gain some insight and share with me their thoughts. All of my writings come with some truth and the thought of possibilities to help solve a situation.

Welcome back, Trina, to the Word Refiner channel. It's an honor to help promote another of your books. The other books I have promoted for you can be found through the links just above. We had an interview a number of years ago. I have made so many changes to my list of questions that we are going to start from the beginning.

First question.

Please, tell us more about yourself. Perhaps something a little bit beyond your bio.

Thanks Mark. It is a pleasure to be back.

If I must add to my bio, it would be the growth I experienced from my writing back in 2016 to now.

Prior to 2016, I had a positivity about society (almost naïve). I always wanted to see the good in everyone and everything society put into my path whether on the job or in my personal life. Although, I still maintain that positivity in my life, I do not believe I am as naive as I was. I believe my writings portray that growth.

Thank you, Trina. A positive attitude makes life more enjoyable. I have a positive mental attitude also.

New questions.

Are you a full-time or part-time writer?

What kind of work do you do if you are a part-time writer?

Feel free to skip that question, if you would rather not answer.

Good day Mark
Writing is more of a passion for me. Whenever, I feel compelled to write, I cannot rest until I have written my thoughts. Therefore, I guess you would consider it a parttime job.
I also work as a hotel manager in the hospitality industry which is my main source of income.

Part time describes it well and that is the situation many writers find themselves in. They dream of being able to write full time and earn enough money to pay the bills.

The hospitality industry is quite large in many parts of the country. There are a lot of hotels in central Florida that are centered around the theme parks.

New questions.

Has writing changed the pleasure of reading for you?

Do you write in a journal for yourself only, not for publication?

No, writing has not changed my reading habits. Because my writing thoughts are so infrequent, I hardly have time to enjoy reading for pleasure. Hopefully, when I do not have to work, my time for reading will become more flexible.

All of my writings end up being published. My journal is what made me publish my work. One day, I had a hard day at work and began to meditate on my job situation and why I keep getting the same type of bosses. So, I began to read my journal and found that it was worth sharing with others who maybe experiencing similar situations on the job and in life. After that moment of clarity, I began to write not just for me but for everyone.

You are blessed indeed. A lot of writers have told me that reading is not as much fun since they have written a book or three. They catch themselves analyzing the story, plot and characters. Myself, I love to read and read quite happily until a spelling error jumps off the page at me. That happens with almost every book I read. When I slow my reading pace then I start noticing punctuation and other grammatical errors.

New questions.

Who was the first person to inspire you to write something to publish?

What inspired you to write this book?

Reply

The authors who do not find much pleasure in reading others work, is correct. I tried to help someone by reading their work to give them a positive review. The author became mad at me because I begin sharing that my words was helping me understand their plot. I told the author that I cannot give a positive review without the changes. I gave a recommendation to have a professional proofreading review the book and I would gladly ‘pay for it again’ to give a positive review. I never heard back from the author. So, in this scenario, I agree with the authors who analyze and find little pleasure in reading.

Because my first book and other books to follow share my personal life experiences, the first person who inspired me to publish my first book was my brother. Before sharing my book with the world, I spoke with my brother, someone I trust unconditionally. He read my book and stated that my book does not share real names so people would not know who I am referencing; of course I changed the names; therefore, only people who knew me and my family may be able to know the real names of my characters.

I began writing Imagine because of all the violence and immorality seen and heard of everyday, to see wars in the 21st century is mind blowing. When I toured Rome for two weeks, I heard about the violence that occurred in the 1st century. It was normal for people to be murdered in the Colosseum as a sport, and viewers had to sit through the torture of humans. At that point, I realized nothing has changed; just the viewers. When I return from Italy, I began to see the violence, corruption, immoral behaviors, and to acknowledge that a war is happening in our time. I began to wonder why such madness is still happening and can something be done about it; that is when my writing began about Imagining a world without war, corruption, and violence.

Many authors can't handle criticism of their book. Thye have poured their heart and soul into their book.

You have a wonderful brother. Such a blessing.

Yes, basic human nature has not changed one bit. We wear different clothes and have more shiny things. Nothing new under the sun.

New questions.

Your book doesn't fit neatly into a popular genre. Your previous books were easier to classify.

Will you keep writing in the genre or will you branch out?

Have you ever seen a UFO or UAP, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena?

You are correct, Mark. My latest book is different. Although all of my books speak truth; unfortunately, many people do not want to hear truth or shall I say my truth. My current book speaks of the need for everyone everywhere to unite as one. This means all representatives in the 7 continents put down their war weapons, and stop the violence against every living soul.
My next book coming soon possibly around Christmas 2025 will be titled, Love & Hate. To love our life; I will share that we have much good in our life to embrace, and we can improve upon the bad. However, hate this world; the moral behaviors are extinct, the corruption and violence are the norm.

Unfortunately, I have not seen a UFO. However, I believe in its existence. My previous book titled, Hatred: Fighting It Everyday, shares approximately 3 scenarios on the reason for the Covid19 pandemic and the introduction to its vaccine; the government using UFO aliens' tissue is one of my theories.

There are two kinds of truth; objective truth is true for everyone everywhere such as gravity, and subjective truth is true for at least one person and many people can each hold a different truth.

I have not seen a UFO either though my sisters claim we saw one as children I have no recollection of the event. Mostly I do not think they are friendly to humans.

New questions.

Have you ever seen a cryptid, an animal unknown to modern zoologists, or found evidence of one?

How many drafts did your book go through before publishing?

Reply
Trina Jordan link
3/13/2025 04:56:23 pm

No Mark, my travel has not taken me to unknown areas where cryptid can be seen.

OMG, I would say at least 15 drafts before I was satisfied with sharing it for publishing. First, I print it to check for clarity and flow of information; this takes at least 13 drafts. Then, I check for spelling; then, I send it to a professional proofreader; then, I check it again before publishing.

I have not seen any cryptids also. Though I lived in a small town in SW Washington and friends claimed to have seen Big Foot. There were reports of sightings pretty often in the area.

That is a good number of passes. Many authors rush and make only a few passes through the book.

New questions.

Is there anything unconventional or different about your writing technique?

What do you do differently than other writers?

I doubt that I possess anything different about my writings than other authors.
Although, I must believe what I write. I must see it or visualize that it is possible. I must be able to walk in the path that I am writing. It must make sense to me. That is why most of my writing is based upon life experiences or the method to see that it is possible.

Many authors have mentioned that they visualize scenes also. That makes your writing not so different but similar.

I have mentioned to many writers that taking a screenwriting course might be a useful skill to have.

I know that most of the books I read create a vivid mental image of the scene in my mind. Some more and some less. There is a fine balance to stick to for generating a good mental image and avoid over describing. That is something writers struggle with at times.

New questions.

Who designed the cover of your book? Feel free to drop a copy-and-paste link if appropriate.

How many drafts did the cover go through?

Sidra S. @universalgrapix, found on Fiverr designed my book cover, Imagine.
Because I explained to Sidra exactly what I wanted for my book cover which is guardian angels protecting society from wars and violence, his first draft was surprisingly exactly what I was looking for. Therefore, it only took one draft.

Sidra was certainly a lucky find for you. Most authors tell me they go through several versions of the cover before getting one that matches their mental image. Knowing how to make covers is an important skill.

New questions.

Was it hard to come up with the title? What was the process?

Have you ever done NaNoWriMo, National November Writing Month?

Yes, Sidra was a good choice. It is not easy to find someone who takes pride in his work. I would recommend Sidra to anyone for any type of design book cover.

Actually, the title comes to mind first; then I start writing. For my current book, Imagine, the title I previously had in mind was not making a firm statement as I wanted it to be. So, I changed it to the title you see today, Imagine.

Unfortunately, I have not heard of NaNoWriMo, National November Writing Month.

He sure did nice work on your cover.

NaNoWriMo is a contest to see if you can write 50,000 first-draft words of a book during the 30 days of November. It has been quite popular for years until last year. They decided to accept writing done with artificial intelligence, AI. To be clear, you are competing only against yourself and the calendar. Writing 1,667 first-draft words a day doesn't seem very hard, but I am not a writer.

AI has been a hot button for a lot of writers because they received no payment for the use of their books by AI. Amazon has recently instituted a limit of three book uploads a day for an author. That isn't possible without the use of AI in my thinking. Authors are supposed to disclose if their book was written with the help of AI when publishing on Amazon.

New questions.

Have you written and published any short stories before writing your book?

Have you done any ghostwriting?

Reply

NaNoWriMo is new to me. Probably because I would not have partaken in it. I am so ‘old fashion’ in so many things, including my writing.

I never thought about writing short stories or ghostwriting; only writing and sharing with others.

Some things to consider down the road.

I have recommended to writers that short story writing contests, especially those that provide feedback from the judges, can help a writer improve their writing skills. I do have a warning, there are a lot of shady contests out there. Some want to extract as much as they can from your wallet, others want to steal your intellectual property. Here is a copy-and-paste link about those things: Beware Bogus Writing Contests! Look for These 8 Red Flags. https://annerallen.com/2019/05/beware-bogus-writing-contests. New questions.

What do you think of the current controversy regarding AI, Artificial Intelligence and books?

Did you use AI in any of your writing or planning for your books? I am not including research in this question because most of the major browsers have embedded AI in the browser.

For me, AI is another method for humans to disconnect from the norm.

No, I have never used AI in my writing nor will I ever. I consider AI a piece of the problem that is escalating this whole world into a devastating condition.

Reply
Mark
3/15/2025 06:43:40 pm

I don't have much confidence in many aspects of AI either. I think it's uses have limited use and application. There are many versions of AI now and the large language models have been trained on every bit of writing it could find. Sometimes it even broke through a paywall and stole that material also. AI has been known to hallucinate and to lie about answers. To give false information. I am sure of one thing; it will be used unscrupulously by bad actors to cause much havoc around the world.

New questions.

Have you encountered a troll reviewing one of your books?

How did you handle it?

3/15/2025 07:12:17 pm

Good information on AL. Thanks

Fortunately, I have not dealt with trolls sharing negative feedback against my writings and attempting to provoke me or others about what they read in my books. When advertising my books, I try to be precise when describing what my books contain. Because my books share old fashion values and morals that barely existence in the 21st century, corruption, and violence against one another is the norm, any feedback I receive would be against those who hate the 80s & 90s society status. Therefore, dealing with trolls have not been an issue as of today.

Mark
3/15/2025 07:49:48 pm

You are welcome.

You are doubly blessed. Trolls have caused more than one author to shed tears and get caught up in drama. The troll likes nothing more than causing a person much grief. So many authors fear their book sales will plummet because of the bad review. Most of the time, a review left by a troll is obviously about some other book. Most readers are astute enough to recognize a fake review when they see one that a troll leaves. I have been telling authors for years that a trollish review serves to validate the other reviews and proves that those good reviews were written honestly. So, never respond to a troll, ignore their foolishness.

New questions.

What was the first paying job you worked as a kid and how old were you?

Have you done any public speaking?

If so, will you be doing more in the future?

I agree Mark. I think if anyone is experiencing trolls, it will bring more attention to their books and incite others to what to read it; sometimes bad reviews can bring about more sales.
I believe my first job was immediately after high school at a hospital as a supply clerk. It involved taking medical supplies to different floors upon request. Thinking back, it was an interesting job.

Hospital supply clerk could be an interesting job. It would provide a person with a comprehensive peek into the world of medicine.

Speaking to students is one of many ways to promote your books. One of my favorite blogs is about pursuing the local author angle. How to be a marketing star right where you live. A copy-and-paste link or search the title in the search box below: https://annerallen.com/2019/08/hometown-book-marketing/

I would add a few tips, seek out literature teachers at the high school and college level to share in their class and there might be a club in the school. Local newspapers are a good resource for an interview as well as local cable access. There might also be a broadcast arts curriculum and/or a club at the high school and college level. Have some questions ready to hand the interviewer if they seem uncertain.

Senior centers are another good possibility and they usually welcome any sort of activity like that. Contact the events director.

If there are tourist destinations try and place your books with the local author angle. Museums, gift stores, motels, hotels, tourist attractions are all possibilities. Keep a box of books in your trunk. Get a counter-top holder for a few books, paste a picture of the cover on the holder behind the books and put re-ordering information on the back of the holder.

Consider renting a table at a comic convention, county fair, farmer's market or a flea market. Have free swag to hand out such as a bookmark and sell mugs or posters. There are so many ways to be the 'local author' I doubt I have exhausted the list of possibilities.

My favorite food is sushi and red wine. I do not eat much sushi because I am very careful where I go for it. I have heard from some colleagues that experienced food poisoning effects, fortunately I have never experienced it.

I would say my least favorite food is baby back ribs and bitter taste red wine. I only eat red meat when I visit my family. I am a native of the South, so red meat is the norm and can be addictive. So, when I return home, I stay away from it.

New questions.

Have you ever gone through the query process?

Were you seeking an agent or submitting directly to publishers and why did you choose that path?

Thanks Mark.

No, I have not gone through the query process. However,
I had a literary agent contact me through a referral. Unfortunately, after submitting requested documents to submit to a publisher, he also wanted me to pay over $2500 for the marketing and advertising prior to acquiring a publisher. I choose not to proceed because I can market my books for much less. I believe in fate; therefore, if it is meant to be, a publisher will find me through my marketing efforts.

Mark
3/17/2025 08:13:41 am

Everything I have heard tells me you were contacted by a phony agent. The scammer was trying to lighten your wallet and you were smart enough to not get taken for an expensive ride.
There are a lot of phony publishers also. Vanity publishers try to lighten your wallet also, plus they require you to buy a lot of copies of your book and they do little to nothing in terms of marketing your book. Traditional publishers do not ask for money up front. The publisher bears the burden of publishing. They pay for the proofreading, the cover and the printing, everything. Until those expenses are paid for from book sales the author will not see a penny of royalties.
There is a new type of publisher, a hybrid publisher. They ask the author to help pay for the publishing of their book. They usually have a list of the services and the costs they expect the author to share. It is ala-carte publishing. The author is not stuck with a package deal, the author gets to choose the services they want.

Last questions.

How do you think your book compares to a book published by a major publisher?

Have you ever seen a ghost or had some other type of supernatural experience?

Reply
Trina Marie Jordan link
3/17/2025 03:28:42 pm

Yes Mark. I agree that the literary agent was not real. Thanks for the feedback.
I think a major publisher could provide me a nice monthly royalty check. However, my books share ‘old fashion’ experiences and expectations. Therefore, I am comfortable with the route chosen to share my books. Of course, if a real publisher happens to enter my path by chance or fate, I would pursue the possibility.
I think I experienced a supernatural occurrence. Although it is kind a hard to tell. Because I always displayed a positive vibe, if the ghost was present, it did not bother me.

My books remind me of how things were in the 80s and 90s, and the drastic change I see now.
I live the way I write. I hope someday everyone can see the joy in this terminally ill world. I have very few friends because I stay away from everyone and anyone who wants to promote the danger we face every day. The world is not getting any better, and those of us who want to live in a less corrupt, less violent, and less immoral environment; those are the people I surround myself with.
As always, you have always been honest with me about my writing. So, again thanks for everything.
